When you first type "fitness trampoline" into a search engine on your browser, you are blasted with a million pieces of content - articles about the health benefits, pictures, and videos featuring workout routines and influencers sharing their love for rebounding.
One familiar face amidst this tidal wave of information is the face of Sydney Ross, or better known as Jump&Jacked on social media. Sydney is a Canadian fitness influencer and Co-Owner of Jump&Jacked, purveyor of online fitness classes and personal training services. We wanted to know what makes people fall in love with fitness trampolines, why rebounding on a minitrampoline is such a source of joy, so we decided to ask Sydney what made her fall in love with trampoline workouts.
I always knew that I wanted to be in the field of fitness from the age of 15. There was nothing I enjoyed more than moving my body and getting that endorphin high. I’ve tried many different ways to work out but once I tried rebounding I immediately fell in love. I started teaching rebounding when I was 18 years old. The studio I worked for had to close down and I was devastated.
Years later I was still thinking about rebounding, I was drawing up Jump&Jacked logo ideas in my notebook while I was studying Holistic Nutrition. At the age of 20 I was diagnosed with a disease called Immune Thrombocytopenia which is where you have low platelets. I spent two years attempting treatments that never worked and eventually had to get my spleen removed. I finally understood what it was like to look at fitness with daunting eyes.
That was when I realized how important it is to move your body in a way that you enjoy and I knew for me that was rebounding. I fell in love with fitness all over again by jumping on my trampoline at home and I’m now in the best shape of my life because I truly love the journey.
The best thing about fitness trampolines is that it makes you feel like a kid again. It helps adults bring more joy into their life while getting so many health benefits. It makes me feel like I can dance (which I can’t) and makes me question whether I’m even working out. I want to share with the world that a healthy lifestyle does not have to feel like torture and that it can feel like a celebration of what your body can do!
On your platforms you are a mental health advocate and often talk about acceptance and falling in love with working out. You say it’s not new year, new me – so what is it?
I have 3 important tips for getting over the holiday hump
I don’t think its new year, new me because that means you aren’t happy with the current you. We are so hard on ourselves and I think it’s so important to realize how amazing you truly are so that you can still work on your goals but in a positive self-loving way.
So, I would set goals and keep reminding yourself why they are so important to you. If you miss one day it’s not the end of the world and you will get right back to it because you are falling in love with the process.
I would 100% recommend ACON FIT trampolines to everyone. I’ve experienced a lot of trampolines and ACON FIT provides you with the best jump possible. It is also such a beautiful trampoline that you don’t feel you need to store it when you’re done and that you can just show it off in your home. I would say it is the Peloton of trampolines.
